DEI Support

Supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Center for Neuroscience

Ranked as one of the top 10 most diverse and inclusive public universities in the country, UC Davis has a long-standing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, advancing women in STEM, ensuring social mobility for our students, and fostering and maintaining an infrastructure that supports all members of our community. However, there is still more that can be done. Philanthropic support from partners like you can help provide underrepresented students at the Center for Neuroscience with unique opportunities to increase access, enhance their education and training, and advance their academic and career success.

Student Travel Award

Your gift will enable outstanding trainees to promote their research, gain a new and broader understanding of their field of interest, and expand their professional networks by attending prestigious conferences, workshops, or unique courses.

Graduate or Postdoctoral Fellowships

Philanthropic support will help the Center for Neuroscience to recruit and retain top graduate students from around the world and provide the student with funding that supports their research and training expenses which they may not otherwise be able to access.

Neuroscience Initiative to Enhance Diversity (NIED) Program

Your support will provide undergraduate students from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds, who are interested in pursuing an advanced degree in the neurosciences, the opportunity to participate in a rigorous two-day course that includes skill-building workshops, mini lectures on graduate school and the admissions process and peer mentorship.

Experiential Learning Opportunity in the Neurosciences

Your support will remove barriers for underrepresented undergraduate students to access cutting edge research experience and/or participate in select neuroscience programs, which can be invaluable for educational, professional, and personal growth.

Diverse Perspectives in Neuroscience

Philanthropic support will increase the visibility of successful underrepresented minorities in neuroscience and educate our campus community about their scientific work and journey in academia as a minority. Your gift will enhance awareness and provide inspiration to underrepresented students and faculty and educate the entire neuroscience community.

CNS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Excellence Fund

Your support will provide the Center’s administration with the flexibility to address systemic issues of inequity and evolve its strategies over time. Your support would allow the Center to stay nimble, launch pilot projects, and/or reallocate funds to meet the ever-changing needs of our underrepresented students.
